I’ve just learned something fascinating.
An animals unique smell is the result of four factors; genetics, bacteria, diet and environment. Genetics you receive for your parents and they express themselves differently as you age, bacteria comes from fluids shared with other animals (i.e. snogging or nursing), diet leaves little smelly articles behind in your mouth and on your skin and temperature, wind and water all bring out different unique characteristics of that bouquet.
Now this might sound like a little bit of mindless trivia, but now holding these facts in your mind consider that favorite canine past-time, butt sniffing.
Imagine if you could work out who his parents were, how old he was, what he had to eat for breakfast, who he had slept with recently , and where he lives all with one good whiff!
Makes small talk seem rather pathetic by comparison.
